They are made out of durable plastic, but I would assume mice could chew through them. if you are storing something outside, put these inside another container, like a metal trash can. This particular item does not come with oxygen absorbers, though we have many listings that do.
However, please note there is another large seller on Amazon trashing Asian bags in his listing as 'not as good'. (And saying he is selling 'American' bags) As someone who works around flexible packaging on a daily basis and has for years, that is salesmanship. The other seller is mainly selling 4.3 mil bags from a company in LA. However, that company imports HUGE quantities of bags (many millions) from Asia, which I don't even think the other seller knows. So I recommend folks please take claims of 'American-made' bags on Amazon with a grain of salt, as very few sellers understand the product and its supply chain and are just resellers with little knowledge of flexible packaging.
Other than 1 bag (our 1 Gallon ShieldPro Econ), all our substrates are 5 mil 5 layer bags with much better Oxygen /Moisture transfer rates (in some cases by a factor of 10) than the 4.3 mil bags they are selling and advertising as 'better than the imports'.

NEVER hurts to have these on hand as well as full because we are in very shakey times.These are the best size to have on hand (my opinion)because you can fill and fit several in the 5 gallon food grade buckets as well as a few in the fridge if need be!
